Thanks gents....it's paint time and for some reason it still takes me days to get over the fear of using an airbrush. I went downstairs a dozen or so times...pondered a bit and then came back up. Bottom color is on using Gunze RLM65, close enough for me.

As usual, I need to correct a seam and attachment point. This is going to be my first free-hand spray job and for the life of me I can't find any useful info. What I'm looking for is how to keep the spray off the opposite wing as I am trying to spray the fuselage. Spraying the wings won't be a problem. To keep the demarcations tight I'm going to use low air pressure and 50/50 paint/thinner mix, draw the edge of the pattern first and then fill. I'll let this dry, cut my lawn and then get back to the top-side colors

I've not worried about overspray Geo. I would make the mix very thin and, like you say, use low pressure to paint very close to the surface. The combination has little impact on surfaces that are further away but if your are worried, just hold a piece of paper to shield the area.

When spraying your demarcation line, for best results, hold the brush at an angle and spray away from the line and into the area to be filled with that colour. This gives a tighter spray pattern than blowing straight down.

Excellent tip Andy. I hope to regain the drive to make my way downstairs at some point but this summer has been very busy between air shows and vegetable garden.

Model is looking very nice George. Sorry I hijacked your thread.

Cheers

Jeff

Dang, SCREAM'N here Geo. Nice work and a real how to. I have this kit but got it second hand and has no gear. Great work.

Lordy, you are finish painting and I've just spent a couple of days on the cockpit.
Now what are you going to do for the Rest of #39 time?????
Looking good mate, ay!

Thanks Bill. A little stalled on painting. The painting instructions are at odds with the photo in Post #1 and I'm just trying to sort out what goes where. For simplicity the colors will be (B)=Brown, (Gr)=Grey Blue, (G)=Green...

The instructions...

As you can see, it goes a little sideways in front of the windscreen

IMHO there is more of colours at tops then it is said. First off all please make a focus on the fin. There is quite clearly seen the demarkation line between two colours. Can you see?

Also if we agree there is the Green ( Khaki ) colour behind the "3" it appears to be the same between the "0" and the roundel.

Let's go forward along the fuselage... if the colour between the digit "0" and the roundel was green it would mean the one in front of the roundel was the brown. It is because the colour at the area looks darker and similar in tone to the one on the fin. This would indicate there should be a dem
arkation line between them at the roundel area. The red ring of the roundel looks quite strange at its top. So.. it might be caused by the changing of colours. But there is a gentle difference in tone just at the right edge of the roundel. It may indicate the demarkation line just there.

The next area... the one is quite nice marked but the demarcation line between the Green and Brown at the front part isn't noticed well. But again there is the difference in tone of pixels there.

There is a trouble with the nose to say what the layout of scamo pots there was. It seems that colours there are more faded because of the overheating.. However here my rendition with possible layout.
