My thanks to all you wonderful gents for that very useful information on the aluminium paints. I tried a number of differing aluminium paint types on my test model, these included Tamiya, SMS, Vallejo and three differing shades from Xtreme. In the end I settled on the Xtreme Dark Aluminium (AK480) as a base coat on top of the primer and Tamiya Aluminium (XF-16) diluted 50/50 to achieve the dope colour. As you can see in the pics below, the red arrow Tamiya, the 1st pic was a test splash. blue arrow Xtreme Darl Aluminium. The whole effect was also then given a good protective spray with SMS Clear Gloss (PPL09). I'm quite chuffed with the outcome and as you can see I was over zealous and started masking for the next spray before remembering to take a pic or two.

Having masked I then hit the upper wing with a good coat of white in preparation for the top yellow coat. You also may think I have over masked, but I have good reason for I do not want to get the aluminium scratched or blemished while I spray the wings.

That's it from me today folks, thanks again for all the great help. :D

Thanks Don and I like your builds. I have been marveling at the size of this machine, comparing it to the Hurricane , Spit, Bf109 and Me 190, it's a monster. I also have me a 1/32 scale lined up but not for this GB, I want to take my time building this one. :D

My thanks gents for your kind words. As Bill has said, it's not so warm today and I was able to crack-on with a bit more spraying.

The yellow wings are done.

A bit of black added for the walkway, cockpit forward sill and the torpedo. The latter is going to present a little problem as the white nose also has red stripes running length-ways.
