Thanks guys! I know to be sure of my references with you guys watching!
Thanks Glenn. I thought that might have been the case. Another question; the flight suit shown in the colour pic - would that have been the same type, and colour, as used by Sabre pilots in Korea?
I need to finish off my Sabre, with the pilot standing next to it, and can't determine exaxctly what the style or colour was from B&W pics I have.

Terry the Goblin flew from Aug 48' to mid 49" so that flight suite could be close. I remember at the Air Force Museum there is a display of flight suites as you walk from one hanger to another but I never took any pictures  I looked at their site and found this F-86 pilot flight suit. the quality isn't great but it might help. My wife's at a seminar in Indianapolis right now and if I would have thought ahead I could have worked it out to go with her. It's only a couple of hours from Dayton and I could have spent all day tomorrow at the Museum da*nit!

Thanks Glenn, that pic has done the job! It was mainly the colour of the suit and the 'Speed Jeans' I needed.
I would really love to get to that museum ! One of these days......

Last night I started working on the cart the Goblin sits on. I was disappointed in the quality of the resin parts that make up the bulk of it. Some are badly warped and the molding is bad, missing the lower flanges on most of the parts. I thought about trying to fix them but decided to fabricate a new cart out of plastic card using the resin pieces as a guide. The real thing was made up of structural steel members so it shouldn't be too difficult to make it up out of card.

Pictures 1-3 The resin parts
Picture 4 The first part made out of plastic card
Picture 6 The real thing

It wouldn't be too hard to make it better than those resin pieces. Resin is not my favorite modeling material, but I don't mind it if the level of detail is greatly increased over what can be done in plastic, but it annoys me when some of these limited run kits include cr*p resin parts like this that could have been made just as good in plastic, just so they can put "Resin" on the box.

Nice work there Glenn, and I agree with your views too ! You probably already know it, but for similar work in the future, Evergreen do various cross-section strip, for example 'H' and 'I' beam, angle section, half round etc etc. Very useful stuff for making diorama accessories such as bomb trollies, servicing platforms etc.

I wish I had some of those H section beams now, but in the last 5 years all the hobby shops near me have closed up and The nearest one that has evergreen is way north of me and I couldn't get there until the weekend if then. I'm making due now by making up the beam sections with card I had on hand and its working out pretty good and I think it will look at least as good as the resin would have were it not messed up, if not better. It would have gone faster though if I had a stock of those beam sections on hand. I'll have to buy some in various sizes next time I get to the HS

I'm the same mate. My local Model Shop, fortunately, is only about 3/4 mile away ( a rather long and painful walk for me these days). but, although she (yep, it's owned by a woman) stocks basic plastic sheet and strip, she has to order in the other items of Evergreen, which is fine. But, trying to figure out the sizes without actually seeing them can be a bit tricky sometimes, especially if you order a pack of 'X' strips and find you really needed the next size up, or down. Not a problem, as Iris will exchange it, but the extra delay can be a pain, as there's only a delivery once a week, and that's if the order is placed on the right day the week before !

I know how you feel Terry, I'm the same way with paint. I like to take my time deciding just which shade of a certain color to buy. Not the same buying on-line or mail-order.

I did more work on the cart tonight finishing the basic structure. It still needs some clean up, gusset plates, and other detail work, then I will add the kit wheels and bracing. I'm happy with it so far. The picture compares it to the resin parts.
