Here are my finished shots for this Group Build representing the Early Model 21 N1K2-J "Shiden-Kai" flown by Lieutenant Naoshi Kanno, Commander of Hikotai 301 of the Elite 343 Kokutai , the Squadron of Experts in May 1945.
I have retained the White 15 in the fuselage Hinomaru with the Victory markings even though current artwork and decal references show the '15' overpainted or removed, however there is no actual photographic reference to support this at this time, available images of Shiden-kai's at wars end show one example with a White 7 still applied and at least 3 other aircraft showing evidence of probable overpainting of the hinomaru numbers by American or Japanese personel as well as all other squadron markings, this leads me to believe these white numbers were not all removed but retained till the end of hostilities.
