Thank you Andy. I couldn't find another Type 18 build on the net but seeing as the cowl piece was an add-on to the Type 24 kit, maybe it snuck by Eduards QC. It's still a nice kits and the strength of the 12 piece per side landing gear is a testament to their engineering.

Beautiful Rata! Did you have a positive experience with the landing gear? Although it looked wobbly, I thought the fit was very positive and the assembly very strong despite the spidery looks.
 
Thanks John and Dr. Gnomey. John, like you, I added the struts to the model and then the covers. I thought the small attachment points would cause grief but they proved to be okay. Just to make sure I had maximum gluing area, I painted it after it was all on the model.
