Great stuff H. I think that the Spitfire in pics 5 and 6 is a glass-fibre replica, possibly re-painted for film or TV work. It used to be painted in grey/green if I remember correctly.

Good stuff H. Someone's turned the Lanc's nose turret since I was last there.

Wonder if they do it just to keep seals, gears and whatnot lubed and no flat spots. I did the same with my truck that sat for 2yrs before I sold it. Buyer stopped by today and it was looking and running beautifully.

Good photos. They are forever moving stuff around at DX, always interesting because there is something different to see with every visit. I used to go at least once a year and there was always a different aeroplane visiting or they'd moved something about. They have a bunch of staff there who do a bit of servicing, as well as restoration; the Lanc being a focal point for veterans is often open for inspection.

Yep, it's also good to see how far a particular restoration has come since the last visit. I remember seeing the B-24 fuselage, lying on 'stocks' on the floor, with most of the skin off, and parts all over the place. About 18 months, maybe 2 years later, it was on display in the 'American' Museum !!
With it being a 'live' airfield, there's always something going on, and something different to see, how ever many times you go. Looking forward to going to the September air show.
