Glad you explained their heritage Evan! Soon as I can get in touch with my mate, I'll let you know what's what.

Cheers guys! (and Harrison...)

Well, still got work (for the moment), and even better, off on a week's leave - leaving for Lake Balaton in about 2 hours.

Work situ: new management don't realise the importance of production, and think it will be easier to just send everything off to another company and just assemble it here. Well, it's just not that simple, nor practical...
Shunted me off accordingly with 2 mates 'for 2 days' on Monday to do cable work, stayed for 4 to help them finish off some supposedly urgent work, then when finished and wanted to go back to my own work, was told 'um, I'm not sure we're allowed to let you go..'.
I then politely asked 'What?', to which was informed everybody but us it seems knew that we were there for a month. It was at this time that previously overheard snatches of conversation like 'poor buggers, spending their last month with us then getting the boot' came to mind...
Next step my now famous 'discussion' with various bosses (Hungarians aren't used to that much it seems), and managed to get back to my proper soldering work on friday.
Thankfully some good friends from all departments put in a good word for me, kindly informing them that especially from an R D point of view, that they will be in the shite big time if they get rid of me - I'm the only one in the company qualified to solder the micro components and hand solder BGA components! (For those not in the know, like my bosses, this is bloody important!)
Meetings all day regarding whole company situ, bosses acting a little differently with me late afternoon...what that means I guess I'll find out when I get back from leave. Whatever happens, sems there will be new changes from Monday.

Important life lesson: It's better to die on your feet than live on your knees... (Midnight Oil, 'Power and the pasion')

Anyway, sorry about the speech, wanted to try and explain a little of what's going on. (and sorry Terry, that's why I haven't replied to your e-mail yet, trying to sort thoughts. I'd be very keen to hear what your mate says on all counts if it's no touble -thanks!)

Have a good week guys, catch up with yas when I get back.

Evan that parcel your expecting should be there for when you get back, have a nice break and relax ,when they realise they would be making a mistake letting you go you might even be able to push for a pay rise

I hope you manage to enjoy your vacation. While not first hand, I know what a trying situation it can be when you end up in a situation like that. A few years back my dad, through all kinds of lame excuses, ended up on the wrong side of the line as well and it had a tremendous effect on the family (my brother, sisters and me were still living at home) It's almost impossible to comprehend why companies treat their 'most valuable asset' like total sh*t sometimes and get away with it. On the bright side, my dad took it to court big time with some fellow workers who felt they were being treated unjustly and were due to be let go off for all the wrong reasons. The result was that the people who thought themselves untouchable got their a*s kicked big time by the judge and ended up being given the boot by the company.

Me too!

Well, back in 'Pest...
Thanks for the well wishes guys, and sorry for the 'life story' in last post... usually just keep that cr@p in my head.

The lake was great (if weather mostly not), and managed to kick back a bit (-aussie slang: 'relax' :) ) - pics up when camera batteries recharged.

Back at work now, and too many changes to know where we stand - just wait out the storm I guess.

Anyway, time to get this thread (and builds) back on track... (just don't talk to me about u/c doors  ) :)

Glad to have you back Even, sad about the weather but this seems to be the world wide trend at the moment, either to bl@@dy hot or wet and cold, but it's nice to know you had a good week.

Cheers Vic, Wayne, Terry and Gerry!

Yep, fairly short, but enough to relax, so mission accomplished! Weather didn't matter either as we did get a couple of nice sunny days, the rest were spent reading, doing sudoku puzzles, and sanding old Spitfire and MiG-15 components...

Here's a pic of the Balaton, VERY rare shot of me in shorts, taken at the batch we rented, and buildwise, Jumos in current state, cleaned up ready for detailing. (NO pics of the wings yet, it will bring on the shakes again...)
