Nice one Karl! The reason for the lack of swastikas is because the kit will be on sale in countries where that emblem is still banned. IF you can still get a hold of them, Microscale did a sheet, Number 72 - 160, which contained various styles and sizes. Although a 1/72nd scale sheet, because of the choice, virtually all scales from 1/72nd to 1/24th, certainly in fighters, can be accommodated. I was crafty, and grabbed a sheet years ago, knowing that the ban would probably extend to most manufacturer's kits!
'Scale Aircraft Modelling' magazine also did a free sheet of similar sizes, donkey's years ago, so I doubt if it's still available. If you ask nicely, I might let you have a couple of 1/72nd scale fighter sized ones..........

i suppose when you consider the most awfull crimes commited under the image of the swastika its understandable to leave it out of model kits !
thanks terry and dan but lucky for me my camera's not good enough for real detail shots, im pleased with it but i know i can improve some more

The main purpose for the kind of modelling is to make a model as close as possible to the real machine.The purpose includes not only small details of interior or outer equipment but painting and markings as well. Of course it should be remembered that in some countries the Nazi markings are forbidden and if someone wants to take a part in contests or exhibitions there he has to think about it.Some modellers screen these swastics and it can be a solution for that.
The Dora looks nice Rochie.I like her.But I think you should apply these missing markings unless you are going to prticipate in a competition in Germany for instance.

People/companies spend all this effort trying to make a model as close as possible to the real thing,all to have such an obvious fawl
Its the first thing you notice if there isn't one on a Luftwaffe Bird espicially a fighter like the 109/190

Wojtek has just given me an idea, Karl. When you get the decals I send you, scan them, then you can print them out to whatever size (within reason) onto clear decal sheet. If you note the size when scanned at 100%, preferably in millimetres rather than pixels, you should be able to scale up or down (relatively) accurately. (it's a pity I'm not still in the trade, I could've made any size pos or neg on the process camera!)
I'm O.K. for swastikas, as I have some saved from other kits, plus the two sheets I mentioned. Also got a sheet of various German crosses. The latter I can hand-paint if neccessary, but swastikas are a bit more difficult!
I'll send you the ones from the free sheet, with various sizes. The quality isn't as good as current decals, as far as thickness goes, but they work OK, especially with Microsol or 'Klear', and look fine once settled and varnished.
It'll cost you a pint when we meet up!!

You are welcome. As long as you don't act like the Nazi all is fine and it doesn't matter if there are swastics on the model.
BTW The swastic hasn't been the Nazi sign only.This is much older than Hitler and his gang.

There was a town in Canada called Swastika who had its named changed but then outraged townsfolk had it changed back because it had bothing to do with the Nazi party

Isn't the original symbol ancient Chinese? And I think I'm right in saying that the one used by the Nazi Party, the way it was (is) presented, is actually a peace sign!
I agree with you all about having them on models, if 'kill' markings, for instance, are historically acceptable, then, for historical accuracy, whatever an individual's thoughts, the swastika should be accepted. As with all of us, I do not condone the evil now associated with the device, and I understand fully the feelings still evoked, in many people of various nations in Europe but, given that, on models for example, the swastika is used for the purposes of accuracy and authenticity, and the modeller is not making a 'statement of allegiance', then I believe that it should be acceptable in this case.
