Sea Fury crash .

[Airframes]

The Navy Wings Hawker Sea Fury T.20, VX281, has crashed near RNAS Yeovilton today.
Apparently it suffered an engine failure shortly after take off, and made a forced landing in a field. Thankfully, both crew members are safe, and were taken to hospital as a precaution, although the aircraft looks to be very badly damaged, with the engine and wings detached, and the fuselage upside down
The same aircraft force landed at Yeovilton Air day in 2014, and has just recently completed re-build.

It was not at Yeovilton that it crashed in 2014. It was at an air show at RNAS Culdrose when it made a forced landing after engine failure. Bristol Centaurus seems prone to mechanical failure.

It took more than £300,000 to get it flying again after the accident at Culdrose.

The damage is much more serious this time and I wonder whether we will see it fly again. If we do it will not be anytime soon.

Good thing it stopped when it did - from the looks of that one picture, it looks like they stopped just short of that one large building. It could have been a lot worse.

Looks like the approach and eventual "touch down" was over / through the trees at the right, with a very short ground run.
Some luck, and a lot of skill on the part of the pilot.
