With the size of your model, a spray bomb would be OK. At least the majority of paint would hit the model

Using of the cans isn't any wrong idea. So if you want you may use them. No poroblem at all. The airbrush the pic of you posted above is more a suitable for painting objects like cars or just large surfaces but not models. So the spray cans are a good alternative.
