In my castle....
If it's not to early, I thought that I'd try to see if there's info on this gentleman and his Dora-9;

Uffz Georg Gude, 6./JG 301 Fw 190D-9 Werk # 210241 "Red 13", he went MIA 4 February, 1945....

Either this one, or a Dora-9 from JG54 me think....

Is this going to be the first of the Eduard Dora builds Jan?

If so I doubt most people will get past your avatar to view the progress...

Brilliant! *Wobble*

Aye, who knows....
Gonna try to finish of the BoB '109's that I've got sitting, just the last of the decals and canopies left...
That's the plan mate, they won't see my mistakes....

where did you get that the A/C was a Dora ? and marked red 13 ? as I am not finding this in Reschke's work either the English or German versions, though this book is not the final word on JG 301.

E ~ as 6th staffel started receiving Doras at the end of December 44 I would of thought the whole of the staffel be equipped with the unit but this may not be the case as I am finding other dates in Febraury where it states A-9's are flown.

Can't remember if it was me or someone else that found this one Erich, or where.... I'll have a wee sniff around to see.

Found him Erich, Aircrew Remembrance Society, Kracker Luftwaffe Pilot Archive German Pilots - G

A quick check in the Japo table of losses for D-9's...

210241, 4.2.45, 6/JG301 'Red 13' Uffz. Georg Gude MIA Eastern Front, Destroyed Fighter Bomber mission also given as Fw190A-9 W.Nr 205938 'Red 3'

Eagle Editions confirms 210241, 4.2.45, 6/JG301 'Red 13' Uffz. Georg Gude MIA Eastern Front, doesn't mention the A-9.

...and I vote for JG 301 Dora!

I think you guys are there Gents. good hunting.

Reschke as I mentioned has errors throughout as he did not place the werke nummer of my cousins A-9 correctly either in the German or English version.

as to 13's sure I would imagine for Doras of all 3 staffels of II. gruppe and maybe even really late war in I and III./JG 301 when they were fitted out. think we mentioned a yellow 13 of 7./JG 301 in the records much earlier.... ?

as to the loss of Röte 13 on the fighter bomber suicide attempt it stands as a good chance it was dropping the single anti-personell package from under the belly as the Doras and A-9's of the JG 301 were on the Ost front during several weeks in February 45 before being removed to take on P-51's and US bombers the last couple of it's missions in Reich defense.

I know that I'll do the 13 for Bartels or 13 for Oesau, but I'd also like to do a JG 301 D-9 (for the Focke Wulf and Messerschmitt GB)...... Also been been looking for '13's' from JG 54 while at it....out of interest and curiousity.

Edit:
According to this, Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen II./JG301

12.44:

10 Fw 190A-8/R6
11 Fw 190A-8/R11
15 Fw 190A-9/R11
0 Fw 190D-9

But also say for the Dora-9, Insgesamt and Neufertigung 21, Insgesamt and Überholung 3 plus Anzahl 18. I don't speak German, what does this mean?

stay clear of the findings for JG 301 on Holms site please.

the Kracker archiv is a good way to go but lets face it Jan we do not have complete pilots listing for JG 301 in any of the gruppen nor losses nor victories. Somewhere in the back of my mind this is all available though Reschke says over and over again it is all lost through whatever means.

do a JG 301 Dora please. JG 54 has been covered well enough, do some research and have fun. As I said the Gude loss was most likely fitted with that anti-personell bomb fitting which was a Soviet horror story if caught out in the open s the bomblets creamed everything in sight.

the German is essentially not up to date with transfers of new A/C coming on board in December, re: Dora 9's coming into 6. staffel with red numbers in fact so many that other staffeln members flew these crates especially pilots of 8th staffel who never received them in the war, but continued to fly A-8 and A-9's.

Others i have found, both in Japo and Eagle Editions listings...

210913 6/JG301 'Red 13' Fw.Clemens Schmoll KIA 14.1.45 shot down by P-51/P-47 bomber escort.2
210919 7/JG301 'Yellow 13' Obfw. Willi frank KIA 14.2.45 shot down by P-51.

210063 12/JG54 'Red 13' Fw Hans Hegener WIA 7.11.44 shot down and belly landed.
211095 10/JG54 'Black 13' Fw. Erich Lange KIA 24.2.45 shot down by tempest.

interesting look how close the werk nummern are for the JG 301 Doras. 5./JG 301 most likely would of had a white 13 somewhere in it's line up from February 45 onward.
