I thought this was the case. I know one of the two seaters was and may still be here in Houston.
Here are a few pics I took of her flying with the Stifftung's Bf 109G-2 "Red 7" about 10 years ago.

They are retrievers, not irish setters. The 2 girls are the Fisher twins. They are caucasian.

That still is a very delightful aircraft design. Much more beautiful than the Curtiss C-46 and has helped truly usher in aviation transportation era.
