I will be modeling this 1/48 beast for the build. It is a revell kit and has some nice options. I chose this kit because I am fascinated by how it was used and how it contributed itself in the Pacific Theater, dont know too much past that but it should be a fun one!

Now this should be an interesting one Mag!
Take it steady, as you've got 3 months in which to complete it, so no rushing with filling and sanding. Just make it nice mate!
I would hazard a guess that Lucky will probably be able to offer some help, as the Cat is one of his favourites. When it comes to markings and units for WW2 pacific Cats, I'm afraid I'm as much use as a concrete parachute, but there'll be people here who can help, I'm sure.
Looking forward to the build Mag!

Thanks Air, the month of may will be slow but once school lets outit should pick up drastically, until then a few bits at a time..

Guys it seems Lucky is right, this kit has Post-War Cats, just jound something confirming it to be 1949. This probably wont work as this is a PTO build, and not a postwar one. ... Anyways, my mistake as all I read was "Used in the Pacific and that was enough, should I find a new kit..?

You can still use the kit Mag, just find a colour scheme and the decals to go with it. There should be loads I would think, and you can probably utilise some of the kit's decals anyway. I'm sure Lucky will be able to advise you and point you in the right direction.

Well maybe.. I just tried finding decals and dont even know what to type. If anyone wishes to throw me some reference on modifying kits please do tell, this would be a first in my modeling experience..

Just get some national markings and squadron numbers will do. You can still use the Cat mate, don't you worry about that.

Here's a few Catalina pics, USN and Commonwealth....

Try these for size for your national insignias and codes mate!

Here ye go Jan,
Yellow Wings Decals

Its not a matter of finding, I just want a valid plane and possibly knowledge of what decals would go where, as no place on the internet seems to have pictures showing every angle of a real cat with the markings..
