Last year my brother wrecked his car, a nice hybrid Audi. He had the stomach flu and became violently ill, losing control of the car and hitting another vehicle. The other vehicle was being driven by a man who did not own it and also lacked an actual driver's license. The Audi has been sitting in my brother's garage, wrecked, for most of a year and he finally got a letter from his insurance company, GEICO, saying that in view of the circumstances they ain't paying nobody nothing. I just sent him a check for almost $6000 so he can get his car fixed.

Meanwhile I no longer have any insurance on my house. The company I had chosen after USAA jacked up the price to far beyond reasonable eventually tripled the price over a space of about 4 years and this year dropped me entirely. The place was paid for almost 20 years ago, so I am self insuring. If anyone trips and falls and sues me I will handle it with the use of firearms and my 25 year old 4X4 pickup truck.

What is insurance for, anyway? I pay over $500 a month for Medicare and only use it to get a physical exam a couple of times a year.

Yessir, been taking Vitamin D for many years. When you live in Minnesota where the sun only shines once a month (not much of an exxageration) you need to supplement your Vitamin D intake.
Feeling much better finally, got a negative test finally last night, but am still getting tired by the end of the day.
 
If he comes to ask you to work OT, put an end to that. Sucks about the slackers though. Always a few that ruin it for the good. My son used to get free hotel and cab fare to the airport if his flight into camp was early. Two idiots trashed a hotel room and the mine owner put a stop to it
 
That's the bad thing about unions. I love my union. I'm a life member. Unfortunately, they have to protect the losers and goof-offs as well as the hard working members (who would love to axe the rotten wood. Boy, I got stories.)
 
A story of a long extinct can company: There was one goof off who could never be found and the other workers complained they picked up his slack. After complaints to union rep as well as plant management, the goof off was made a supervisor. When I asked my friend why, I was told management wasn't getting any production from him anyway and he knew all the hiding places in the factory.
