All the news outlets are proclaiming a "bomb cyclone" hitting the West Coast.

Sounds dramatic, but is nothing more than a typical atmospheric river carried by the jet stream that used to be called a "pineapple express" that will bring heavy rain to the valley amd snow to the upper elevations.

But drama sells, I suppose.
Since every weather event, big or small, is now a harbinger of the end of the world, you need to have language to conveys that message.

They're forcasting 60 mph winds in some areas. That's not nothing.

I am immersed in the new book. So far the title is "The First Mustang Bubbletop Wonders; Why the Air Force didn't buy the P-51D-1-NT and XP-51F"

It is about the development of both in parallel at the same time the air war was climaxing in ETO, and why range was a critical feature for AAF.

I cover the development of the Fighter Aircraft Range Extension Program and Lockheed, North American and Republic's response to pressure to extend range in the first chapter. The rest of the book are the details of designing and building the P-51D and the P-51F, why they weren't bought, and why that led to the P-51D-5 and P-51H - and everything in between.

The Appendices will be extensive

Looking for improvements to the title

Watching, with great amusement, drivers trying to negotiate the left turn onto the road at the bottom of the steep hill opposite my house.
Currently, there's around four inches (100mm) of wet snow, and there are already three cars abandoned, at varying angles, where the drivers got it wrong.
Another car is at present going back and forth outside my house, trying to reverse out of the "dead end" in order to then turn into the road on his left, but he keeps stopping and losing traction, just when he should be giving it more power to overcome the inertia !
He's finally done it, after numerous attempts and around 15 minutes of trying.
Of course, in recent years we haven't had that much snow in this area, and there's a whole generation who haven't had experience of driving in the white stuff - and it really shows.
Very entertaining - just as long as no one slides into my car, parked on the road outside my house !!

Yeah, the title isn't too bad, could use a little finessing, however it's probably better than "This is a Real Book With Verified Facts; So Suck it Youtube Greg".

Fun times! We got a few flakes Wednesday and you would have thought the world was coming to an end.
Somebody posted a meme a couple weeks ago about the annual meeting of the summer tire club. Wednesday was it. A thin veneer of snow melting and then refreezing on bridges made driving quite the adventure.

We all need a Bush Winch during the winter months...I wonder if they're available outside of Australia...
