So I am PTC today from 8 to 7 and tomorrow from 8-12. One of the mom's comes in and says her daughter has to come in with her so she can say hi. She apparently calls me 'dad' at home and her dad is saying, like what? Your dad? That was so funny to me. When I first met her, I thought she hated me. I guess I was wrong about that.

Tonight the story had a happy ending.
One afternoon several years ago I took the dog for a walk and we chose to head North instead of South. Were we about a block away when several Sheriff's cars past us heading south at supersonic speed. Turns out that a lady down the street south of us came home from a gambling cruise, where she had won big. Soon thereafter a a gang of illegal aliens came to her door, claiming to be from the gas company. They broke in, tied her to a chair, and proceeded to ransack the house. She waddled over to a cabinet, picked up a gun, and still tied to the chair with her hands behind her, started shooting at the crooks. They ran away and one of the bullets struck the neighbor across the street. I am glad I did not try to walk my dog through that!

I was at a neighbours this morning and we started discussing the spam phone call plague we have at present.

He would love to be rich enough to go on a Villa Vie Odyssey - The First Perpetual World Cruise cruise and always knows where their ship is and said he loves the spam calls that start with Is that mister Brown?

His reply is No - he is on his way to (next destination port) to join the cruise ship Odyssey for six months. The next question is usually who are you and he replies the house sitter.

He says it cuts out all the repeat calls for at least six months.

At one job the phone would ring and it would be someone saying they were our copy machine company, asking to confirm which model copy machine we had and ask for my name. I would go look and then tell them. It turned out it was a scam. Believe it or not, our copy company already knew what kind of machine we had. Then the scammers would call back and "warn" us that the price of the toner just took a huge jump and we'd better stock up before the new prices went into effect. If you told them Okay, ship us some, the price would not be at all attractive, aside from the fact that our copy company already provided that as part of our contract with them. There was some outfit from Sacramento pulling that scam.

So I went to replying, "Which model copy machine? There must be some mistake. We don't have a copy machine." They would hang up before I got the words out of my mouth. And eventually I was even telling the truth. Our copier broke and we just went to using high speed laserprinters.
