Good enough! The model company used the pre-AMRAAM cockpit which answers all my questions. The not quite square panel above the pilots left knee is called the Armament Control Set (ACS: pronounced AXE). In the AMRAAM capable jets, also called MSIP for Multi Staged Improvement Program, the ACS becomes the Programable Armament Control Set, or PACS. Surprising amount of detail, I recognize quite a few things! Not sure what the thing in the right footwell is...

Cheers,
Biff
Biff that is a lead air rifle pellet i used as weight to keep the nose down ! :evil4:
I also remember you telling me there should be two triangle antenna on the nose for the MSIP upgrade

I built this in the last four days it's a 1982 boxing from Tamiya of the Zero(Hamp) had a price tag of $11 I paid in the late 80's.I lost one of the interior landing gear doors so I opted for the gear up option then to which the stand comes out of the spares box from supermodel. The box art showed more of what my scheme is while tamy shows a much more sparse camo like a late KI-61 I thought not?A Nice distracting build. ;) Kevin

I don't if Wayne does it this way but my pressure went to about 35psi and my first layer was short strokes light blotches and by the 2/3 it was longer strokes for more paint if that makes sense?

Revell 1:48 P51D.

I wanted to start here as I thought working with the raised panel lines and less than perfect fit would benefit me. Honestly fit was pretty damn good...my paining sucks but ive made some huge strides and most of all...AM HAVING A BLAST!

1st build in about 25 years and I must say...im doing pretty well! I was smart enough to get good tools and get setup before starting as I knew i wouldn't walk away from the hobby again. The new paints (acrylics) and airbrushes have really changed the game...honestly even the glues and putty options have. Its a totally new world BUT the biggest and best change has been videos and forums like this. A huge help and so many cool techniques.

Back in the day people were not helpful or friendly at local modeling shows etc. Im loving this and loving these old Revell kits from my mis spent youth.

If it's pics for this thread, post them here. For builds underway, start a thread in the "Start to Finish builds", if pics of recent additions to your "stash", then use the "Recent Purchases" threads.

Works in progress. Waiting for Christmas break.
