Bob, the majority of Yorks were painted in 'Aluminium' overall, having first been bare metal, in parts, for a short period. Not a good example, but the one at Cosford can just bee seen, under the 'Dak'.
Dan Air also used a couple in the 1950s and very early '60's, and one of their's is displayed at Duxford. I remember seeing them, as a kid, at Newcastle airport.
I have a profile, and probably pics, of the overall 'silver' RAF scheme, if you can wait a day or two?

For sheer speed and rate of climb, yes. But for range and agility, these days, no.
Heck of an aircraft though - despite the multitude of leaks, fires, fatalities etc.
