I got a bit spoiled with my P-51 kit. They are just a treat to work with.

You always portray such a clean assembly. Make it look like anyone can do it. Is why we keep coming back to look and learn.

Ok, moving away from the engine for a moment....to the first stage of the cockpit area, the seat and its attachments put together. Also scratched up the padded backrest from a section of plastic card to attach to the seat....

Shocked that they got that seat wrong. I don't think that flare rack would have been there either. Terry will no doubt confirm.

Great job on the padding Wayne. Note though that this was a 'slip on' item, with a 'sleeve' which slipped over the back of the seat. This can be done by adding a paper sleeve, or by blending the edges and painting, but no doubt you'll do the job without problem.
And yes, the wooden block flare rack had normally gone by this time; it's probable that Tamiya used a restored example on which to base their kit design, which might have had the rack erroneously fitted, not uncommon on some restorations.

crapola....on the flare thingy...well it's staying put now....will see about how to do the sleeve when I blend the seat and padding better as it was not fixed in the image above.

Better go back to Axis aircraft.....hey!

Next stage the fuselage framing behind the seat, drilled out all of the holes as well as those on the seat framing itself.
