Just a little update to let you know that I've been slowly repairing this bird after its forced belly landing. Repaired one wheel strut and re-attached it. It was broken in two spots so I reinforced the breaks with drilled-in wire and CA glue. Also one of the drop tanks had the delicate frame and fuel hoses all crushed. Managed to more-or-less straighten those and re-attached the tank to the wing. Gear doors are next so it's not quite back to where it was before the fall.
Women are interesting.
I have a Scottish Aviation Bulldog which has seen the wars. Apart from being damaged twice in moves, an ex-girlfriend happily placed a pile of books on it once. When I pointed out that there is a model under those she got angry and shouted "what was it doing on the desk???". Um, because it is my modelmaking desk and I'm sitting here f###'n working on it...
Flip side of the coin, came home from work once and my current fiancée was almost in tears. When I asked what the matter was, she very sadly placed a small propeller blade in my hand - same bird. She'd had to move it for some reason and the prop had come off. Poor girl, quickly told her this bird's history, gave her a kiss, and quickly repaired it to show her everything's ok. Keeping Ivett...
Just dusting off this thread to prepare for some further progress on this build.
Repairs to the undercarriage are close to complete and I'm ready to resume where I left off. Since the setback in February, I've been the recipient of the generosity of both Paul and Terry who have helped to further round out the story behind, and details of, the aircraft that is the subject of this build. Paul kindly sent me a copy of an interesting and relevant book (see here and Terry performed a number of contortions (which for him must have been painful!) to snap some pictures inside the wheel wells of the Me410 at Cosford that will be invaluable to me for finsihing off this area of the build.
Mike Harrison has also e-mailed a couple of times to find out "what's up" so thanks Mike for the prod! So off I go to the dungeon to get back on track with this one.
