Well done! :thumbleft: You're going to love having the reach of 300mm. The 70-300 lenses (both Nikon and Canon) seem to be the best balance between reach and weight. Any bigger, they get heavier. I always feel like Quasimodo by the end of a full day with the 50-500. I love the reach, but hate the weight.

Thank you Eric. I still have my 75-300 without image stabilization and you are absolutely right, the new lens is lot heavier than the old but the quality is a hundred fold better. The new lens has two I.S. settings. One for still shots and one for action. I am not use to hearing the servos working away yet and I have a sneaky feeling it will eat batteries faster. I took over 400 shots at a truck pull tonight with it and WOW, Shooting at 1/10 shutter speed with a 4 to 5 Fstop I got some killer shots. They are a lot better than the ones I posted last year, and yes Vic they are still burning diesel fuel. I will post some later today.

Nice shots and exquisite combination of photos!

Thank you Shinpachi.

Nice shots Aaron!

Thank you Hugh.

Great shots Aaron, I especially like the birds

Thank you Merv. I was never able to shoot birds with the older lens and get the quality I was after. I don't think I will ever be stable enough to get the clarity with that lens that I get with the new one.:)

The image stabilizing (or vibration reduction for Nikonians) makes a huge difference. I only have one lens in my bag that has it, sadly. The non-stabilized lenses are lighter and way cheaper. I just try to be as steady as possible for the non-stabilized lenses. Shooting with a stabilized lens versus non-stabilized is awesome.

I can already see a big difference to the good from this lens. I am going to have to spend some more time with it to get use to the extra weight over extended periods of time. And as promised, here are some shots of the truck pull last night.

Thank you Hugh. And I already have and I really like it but I think I will have to continue to use the non-stabilized lens to keep in practice.

We sent this one home this morning. I did a spot repair in the paint on the driver side door. Car has a small block with a gear drive and two fours.:)
