Thanks guys. Vic, this is the easternmost edge of the Canadian Rockies and so the peaks are relatively low. Typically there's no snow through the summer but on cooler days when it rains in town during the summer, the mountains often get a dusting.

Speaking of which, there's about 3cm of snow outside my window now but it's supposed to melt by Halloween.
 
Jo-Anne and I had a big outing yesterday, doing a hike up to Healy Pass which is about 10km west of Banff, Alberta. About 18km round trip and 625m elevation gain. Sunny and very warm. Here are some highlights of the scenery, friends, and flora.

 
Thanks everyone. Vic, I can help you out. The red ones are "Indian Paintbrush", the yellow are Glacier Lillies and the white petaled ones are wild buttercups. The little bells are still unknown to me, though I'm trying to find out. Here's another, similar to the white ones but pink:
