Ahoy
The updates for today is the painting of the upper surfaces. From my understanding the new mitchells the J model they were shipped to the united kingdom in all olive drab and nuetral gray. They remaind in that color schedule the roundels were added and the faded out Red squadron codes were added as well no invasion stripes I was hopeing that the j models were painted in dark RAF green with Dark Earth nuetral gray and invasion stripes like the picture I posted earlier in the group build thread. I would lijke to thank Terry for the info on this without his help the paint schedule would be incorect pretty but not acurate. On the update I painted the olive drab color gave 3 coats of olive drab over the nuetral gray. I mixed thye olive drab myself useing fedral standard color chips the olive drab is right on the money. Here is the update for the night more tomorrow.

I agree, good work Boats. If you want to be really authentic, the area where the 'package' guns were removed often showed patches of RAF Dark Green covering the attachment points, and sometimes an area of un-faded Olive Drab where the gun packs had been.(Got a pic somewhere if you need it).
Looking forward to the next stage.

Ok fellas here is the last update for the day and evening. to make the mitchell MK111 in acurate color schedule I shaded in the RAf dark green withe olive drab notice were the gun packages were locdated and removed you can see where the gun packages were once located and taken off the weathering of the mitchell is starting to take effect. I have a little more weathering before its finished. I painted the tyres and installed same shock struts were picked out with silver. as for the painting swchedule thye mitchell MK111 will be completed and other parts will be added as of now to save time i am masking down the glazeings. In the spare decal box i acummilated some roundels and red code letters they have to be custome made for the 226 squadron thanks to Terry for the info its staqwrting to look like a late B-25 in the RAF. Here are the updates of the color schedule.

Here is the update for the evening as thye mitchell 111 is takeing form. The build is coming close to the end I should have this done by tomorrow. all is left is a few small parts and some touch up here and there and the glazeings. as for the update the props have been airbrushed with flat black done some exaust stains as well to give it life. The decals came from the spare decals i have accumilated over the years. funny thing i went to the hobby shop to get a good set they didn,t have them there. lesson learned never go to a hobby shop for decals your better off ordering them on line.thanks the good lord in heaven I had these ready for me in the old decal box. The ship is from 226 squadron, Here are the pictures

Looking good Boats. Did those fin flashes settle down or did those wrinkles stay?

ahoy
They will settle down when dry I added decal set on them they are old decals it takes a few applications of decal set to get tghen soften up to confirm like paint they are as of now starting to tighten up now the top roundeel on the right wing there was a piece of the decal that came off i didn,t notice it until I saw the pictures. lucky me i found it on the paqper backing I added it in place and it looks as if never happened. Next pictures will show the decals all set and confirmed like paint.

Boats

Ah, that makes sense. It did look like the decal solution wrinkling them but I wasn't sure. Carry on sailor!
