Work has been murder lately, I put in over 70 hours last week but managed to get back to work on the F-84 today and had a decal disaster. The red nose decal broke in half in the water and when I tried to piece it together on the nose it completely shattered. The pieces of it can be seen scattered around in picture 1. This was one of the more difficult decals that had to go on but it does not bode well for the rest of them. I decided to mask (also pic 1) and paint and it turned out Ok. (Pics 23) but I'm running out of time here and had expected to finish up the decals today but that will not happen now.

I agree with Geo re the settling into the gun troughs, and also agree with the masking and painting - very nicely done.
I've always disliked curved decals on the nose of models, even when they work reasonably well.

Thanks guys, yes it was probably for the best. I put on the tail serial decals before I went to work (working nights this week :( ) and they seemed to work out Ok. The ones I'm worried about right now are the diagonal commander stripes on the fuselage. I'll give it a try when I wake up tomorrow afternoon if I don't feel too much like a zombie

Finished up all the major decals today with out any more problems, even the commanders stripes which went on rather easily. Still a lot of stencils to go then a panel line wash and adding all the smaller bits. I'm starting to think I just might make it.

The nose paint was a great save and it's better then the decal anyway. The revell decals for the F-84 do that all the time.

Thanks guys
Been working on the canopy the last couple of days, its turned into quite a complicated masking job.
Pic 1 is one I took of the F-84E at the Air Force Museum a few years ago. The main canopy frame is aluminum but the smaller frames are an off white
Pic 2 I started by masking all the individual panes
Pic 3 4 I masked over that masking to do the chromite green in the area of the aluminum frame
Pic 5 Masking put on in Pic 3 was removed and every thing sprayed with White mixed with a couple of drops of Dark Earth
Pic 6 Ares if white frames again masked and sprayed with Bright Silver
Pic 7 The finished product
