This is something I discovered when doing the La-5 decals. My solution was to print extra decals and overlay the duplicates on each other two or three times to get the density.

Yes, I'd thought of that for the abschuss zeichen, as they're very small, hence the 'thin' printing.
However, having made four sets, just in case, I found I had to cut the top row to get the positioning right, and I doubt I'd be able to get perfect register with such tiny lines. As it turned out, I was grateful for the extra sets, as the first one curled (the main section) and some of the density abraded trying to correct things. So that one was 'binned' and another cut and positioned. They've turned out reasonable, if not totally accurate in their positioning. They look red in the pic, but they are actually (thin!) black.
The 'No Step' stencils worked well and, after all the decals were fully set and sealed, the model was cleaned, and then given two coats of semi-matt clear varnish, including the prop and spinner, mixed from 'Future' and Tamiya Flat Base, to simulate the sheen of the high-quality, cellulose smooth finish of Luftwaffe aircraft from this period. The yellow nose, and the rudder, were then given a coat of dead matt clear, mixed the same way, to replicate the flat appearance of the 'distemper'-type washable paint.
The pics show the steps described, and next job is to separate the leading edge slats and paint the inner faces, before positioning the slats semi-deployed. The flap hinge lines will also be painted, and the flap indicator lines hand painted, before moving on to further construction.

Thanks Evan. Had to prick the rudder decals and one of the 'No Step' decals, as they silvered after a couple of hours. Put some Micro Sol on them, and they seem to be behaving now.
