Been working on getting all the flap assemblies and PE hings together.... Just painted up the .50 cals and highlighted em with silver pencil.... Still deciding if I want to open up one side of the wingtop and expose the gun belts and .50 cals....

Paul, u have any good pics showing what these doors looked like, as well as the hinges etc that hold said doors open??? I gotta go throughall my ref stuff to find it, but maybe u got something more available...

Tryin to figure out if its worth me screwin around with em.....

Check out page 5 of this thread, If more detail needed I may have some but they will be black and white pictues.

Gonna be gone the next day or so, Ill reply when I get back.... Thanks again Brother...

Roger Dodger, Hummm have to think on this one.

Great pics Paul.
Dan, accepting the fact that this is a preserved example, note how 'clean' the Brownings are. Generally, aircraft-mounted weapons tended not to exhibit as much wear to the paint or blueing as those used in the ground role, although the firing solenoids on the side of the recievers were, as shown, relatively bright bare metal. Most aircraft .50 cals I've seen (in the flesh) both WW2 vintage and more modern versions, have not been a true black. Those with the perforated cooling jacket have had a sort of very dark brown/grey appearance, with the recievers in a very dark dull grey, and those with the HB barrel (un-jacketed) have been overall dull very dark grey. The top covers on both, however, were black. (That's the feed cover I mean). The 'flexi-feed' chutes were dull bare metal, with a very slight gold, or brass sheen to the 'silver', the cases of course were brass, the links black, and the bullet heads copper, or with coloured tips to denote types of load. If you need info on the latter, let me know, and I'll dig out the gen.

Thanks Terry,

Well I found this shot I took a few years ago. I will look around and see if I can find more especially on the brackets.

Yeah!Open 'em up Dan! It'll look great with one side open, and you'll be surprised at how little needs to be done. If the kit doesn't have the 'Flexi-Feed' chutes, let me know, as I've got spare ones from the Dragon P51 which would adapt.
So far, I've found pics you've already got in those Kagero books, but nothing as clear as Paul's shots, and there's that cutaway too, but that isn't brilliant. Still looking for more!

I found a web site that had a clear pic, in colour, from directly behind and slightly above Dan. Problem is, the site won't let you save pics. It was part of the 'Webshots' set-up, so I'll see if I can find it again - it was one of those that I trawled through various links for. I though I'd saved the pic, exited the site and then B*ll*cks! No pic!
If you happen to find it before me, let me know!
I 'Googled' 'Pictures of F4U Corsair gun bay' - got lots of bits and pieces that didn't really help, and I'm fairly sure the one in question was on the last page - of about ten!

Terry, there are easy ways to get around nonsense like that. There are two things I hate that some websites do. One is what you just talked about, because it's actually quite easy to get around, and two is when sites won't let you hit the back button to leave them.

You can take a screenshot by hitting the print screen button on windows and then going into "Paint" or another photo editing program (if you can call paint that!) and press ctrl+v. You'll have to do it over and over again for each picture, and it takes a picture of the WHOLE screen, so some cropping is in order. On a Mac, you can hit a shortcut that actually saves the picture for you, so it's a lot faster and more convenient.

Ah Ha! Thanks Cory, I'll remember that for future use. It was a right pain, as a message popped up saying something like only members could save the pic. I went ahead anyway, saving in windows, and confirmed it in 'My pictures', thinking I was a right clever b@@@ard!
When I went to find the pic later, the bl**dy thing had a blank screen with the previous message! It was a bit like 'told you so, nah-nah-na-na-nah!'
