Wojtek is spot on (of course!) with his instructions H, but I agree with Greg about the better tape. I packed the decals I sent you between folded paper, held closed with some Tamiya masking tape. If you peel this off carefully, you can try it on something, and see the difference. I think you'll find it much easier to work with, and in many cases, you can still see the lines of panels etc through the tape, or at least their shape. It's more expensive than 'ordinary' tape, but worth it, and often lengths already cut can be re-used for some other jobs. It's also available in different widths - the one I sent is 10mm, one of the narrower ones.
Just a suggestion.
 
Thanks Terry! I have Tamiya 6mm masking tape. I may try this tonight then. I'll take off my masks and use the 6mm tape I have and see if it fairs better.

Try looking for some pre-cut Mr Hobby Masking strips. They come in a package of 2 sheets, one sheet each of 1 and 2 mm strips. They are much easier to deal with than trying to cut squares out of any tape to the exact size. Cut a strip to length and use them to mask just inside the framing and THEN cut a shape to fill inside of that - slightly overlapping the interior piece with the strips.
 
These mask are absolutely 100% ridiculous. I was supposed to be in bed while doing that. I am just inclined to say let me either do it with a thin brush even though I'll still mess it up because this is I don't even know how many times and it's just plain time consuming and frustrating. I know modeling is time consuming but this = ridiculous. I'm sorry. I just hate masks.

No matter how long I try I can't get it.

I don't want to do them any longer. I'll just paint and yes I know I am risking the canopy by doing this but it takes a lot less time.

I appreciate you help , don't get me wrong but there is still a deadline and I can't be on line this weekend, well only an hour or so. S

As you wish....no problem. Use a very thin brush and paint the cockpit frame with the cocpit interior green colour firstly.

BTW. So many modellers make these masks both these who paint with a brush and those painting with an airbrush. Nobody of them says " ridiculous " about something what is useful for them. It is ridiculous rather when somebody comes to the forum and asks tenth time about how to paint a cockpit conopy because his brush is not enough accurate.

Harrison been modeling for 30+ years off and on Canopy's are still a PIA.I have been of late using frisket paper of good quality w/sharp knife with decent results and liquid mask from different companies expeirmenting.And I still paint some buy hand mainly bomber greenhouses.Kevin
 
It's just no matter how many times I try it doesn't come out how I cut it and when I can only see the panel lines somehow I still went wrong somewhere.

It's just really time consuming, and it's time that I am starting to loose.

I never asked ten times if my brush isn't accurate

Anyways...

I'd like to do these masks and like Kevin said its a PIA. I am ordering Maskol right now for the future.

G'day H, I see your still hard at it with the masks. There a pain, that I do know and probably one of the hardest parts of modelling as the end product is highly visible. Stick with it mate. BTW, Up to now I've never used manufactured masks, I use the Tamiya masking tape, outline the canopy frame and gently cut away the frame outline.

Anyway, how are you today, have you had a good day.
