OK Harry. Tonight it is late here and I'm tired. So I'm going bed.

Of course if you don't use these masks you can paint it with a very thin brush. But I'm not sure about the effect of this. That's way I suggest to mask these windows because you can paint even on them without any damages to the glass.

Another thing is that your scissors aren't good for a such work. Judging by the pic with them in these are too big.ALso I guess these aren't sharp enough to cut the tape correctly.

Ok put it away untill tomorrow. Now I wish you a Good Night.Pleasant dreams Harry.

OK/

Why dont you just use some acrylic paint and paint the lines then toothpick away anything that goes outside the frame? Why fiddle and yell over getting the tape cut to perfect shape for a mask..

Ah.. I would just run to the LHS and buy some basic acrylic colors for painting the frames.. such as silver, black, olive drab, any other color the plane demands

Mag... I think Harry's time both for using acrylic paints and painting conopy frames with a brush wiil come up.

I think you did it OK. But not enough precisely. Look at the cockpit picture. Also these raised panel lines on the glass part show you the window shapes. ( dimension.) Your masks are still or too narrow or too wide. Simply their shapes are not the same like the glasses in frame windows.

OK Harry. Show me how you are drawing one of these glass of the cockpit frame.:) Can you?

Ok. So I put the piece of tape on the canopy and find the panel lines. Draw them. Then, find the curved parts of the window and add those.

Dinner.

Have a great night and hopefully talk to you tomorrow.

Looking good. But you do it not exactly you need. You have to push the tape into the inner surfaces of these windows. That's way you should use the sharp pencil. Also you can use a toot-pick as initial tool. Then paencil or the marker. You need to draw the inner shape of the window and then cut it out going with scissors along the outer side of these panciled lines.

And you have to stick the tape piece higher to the conopy. It is that because you can't be sure how the upper line of the windows are going.

Harry have you ever make a copy of a coin on a sheet of paper using a pencil?

I am no expert by no means, but wouldn't it be easier to stick the tape to the canopy then press it into the recesses with the toothpick as described in order to see the raised lines. Then instead of tracing the outline an cutting it out with a scissors just leave the mask in place and cut around the outline with a new #11 exacto knife, being careful not to cut too deep?
Then remove the unneeded tape, burnish the edges down again and then paint?
Might be an easier task with some thinner masking material as well? That blue tape is pretty thick.

Let me know if I am ot of line and I'll keep quiet;)

It is usually made in the way you described it Bucksnort101 .But by advanced modellers.Harry is a beginner and I don't think he can operate with a knife at a such small areas.
Therefore the way is much safer for his fingers and hands. Am I right?
