Thought it was time to post an update. I masked off the area of the invasion stripes and sprayed them white.

After getting truly annoyed over several nights of trying to mask over all the humps and bumps for the black stripes I simply gave up on that route. With a flexible ruler, I lightly penciled in the demarcation lines and just freehanded it. There are some ragged edges and paint chips to clean up but it has given me the courage to try it again in the future. On the whole, it turned out better than expected so I am pleased.

O.K. just a quick update. The touch-up painting has been done. Now it's time for the decals and the fiddly bits. As an aside, if anyone can tell me what color the fuel filler cap should be painted it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Looking great Bruce. The fuel filler cap was normally a dull bare metal, sometimes painted but very chipped through use.
