Well, today was supposed to be a photo shoot with a BT-13, but it wasn't happy. So I still managed to grab a few shots and get a couple of flights in.

The first three are a T-6 that a couple of friends of mine are restoring, then coming into 16R at Van Nuys then 21 at Whiteman, the the hangar where my buddies nest their birds.

Very nice Eric!!! Terry sent me an E-mail yesterday and said that they had been up to take the T-28 to get it serviced so he took the T-34 and brought Kieth back. I got the impression that he was happy just to be up in the air again. I know I would be.
 
Thanks guys. It was a little disappointing that the BT wasn't running well, but better safe than sorry. The 170 is really nice and in beautiful condition. It was a day around airplanes, so it's all good.
 
Ok, you guys have heard me gripe about the metering on the D80. While I can get good shots out of it, there are times the damn thing leaves me completely baffled. Below is a great example of why I hate the metering on the D80. The 2 photos were taken one right after the other, within a fraction of a second apart.

From everyone I have spoken with about the D80, we all agree that it has the worst metering of any Nikon digital ever put out. Argh! I know light and reflections change, but for the camera to have that drastic a difference in 2 shots in rapid succession is vexing. I have never had this issue with the D50.

They don't have a fix, aside from an upgrade to the D90 maybe. They claim that there isn't a problem with the metering, although many folks I know who have a D80 have the same issue. My D50 is fine with the same conditions. If I had taken those same shots with the D50, or any other Nikon, I would bet it would have been fine. Instead I get one under exposed and one over exposed. Grrr.
 
It's a crappy rainy day here in SoCal. The kids were bored and I wanted to shoot some airplanes. So I made some paper airplanes, had the kids throw them and I shot them. It's harder than I thought it would be.
