Yep, that's what I was thinking. So I finally got around to scouting the back yard today from all of the recent rains. I spotted at least 4 different varieties of mushrooms out there.
Mushrooms are fun to shoot to me because of the different textures and shades. The hard part for me sometimes is capturing all of the detail. Very cool Eric.
They are neat looking, but I am concerned with letting the kids play out there with those. I have no idea which ones may be poisonous. My only way of knowing is that they ones in the market are most likely safe to eat.
Dug out some old gear today. This is kind of a museum of my old gear.
1. Sony Mavica digital FD-81. A whopping .7 megapixels at a max resolution of 1024x768
2. Canon PowerShot S50. Great little point and shoot at 5 megapixels and the thing was darn near bullet proof. I can't remember how many times it dropped on the tarmac and still worked.
3. Kodak Tele-Ektra 300 (1978 ). One of my early film cameras. It was a 110 camera. For it's day, it was quite something, similar to to Pocket Instamatic series but with two lenses and updated to take the new 400 speed film. The two lens setup was a slide that switched between 22 and 44mm.
4. The Minolta X-370. (1985) This was my first foray into SLR cameras. I think I may still have the receipt for that around here somewhere. This camera went all over the world with me.
5. My old airshow setup. X-370 with 28mm and 50mm prime lens, Albinar 70-200mm zoom and the 118x flash for fill flash. Those were the days.
Nice Minolta Eric. I have several Olympus bodies and a couple of suitcases full of just about everything you would want to attach to them. All pretty useless now since I bought my digital SLR a year ago. It's a whole new world now without Kodachrome

I've been wanting to have a go at raindrops...I know, sounds weird, but raindrops and the perfect mooncloud shot have been something I've always pursued.
By the way, I've heard that LED back-lighting helps in capturing motion in MACRO, haven't tried it out yet, but thought I'd mention it.
I tried a bunch of different settings, 1/250, 1/500, 1/1000. I also tried some slower stuff, but the blur was bad. I also used anywhere from 100 to 1600 ISO. I did all of this in the kitchen sink with a salad bowl. The key is to pick a salad bow with some colors.
My 18-200 got broken last weekend, so I am stuck using the old 28-80 non-VR lens for now. None of my lenses have macro though. I was using a halogen work light to illuminate the bowl.
I am hoping I can get it fixed. The glass is okay, but the aperture blades are toast. It got cold last weekend at Cable and I couldn't feel the camera in my hands. I dropped it on the tarmac. Really depressing. I am going to send it out for an estimate, but if it's over 1/2 the price of the lens, I'll probably find a used one someplace.
That sucks about the lens Eric, dropped my smaller lens 2 years back but it somehow managed to survive relatively undamaged (zoom sticks sometimes but otherwise fine), was really lucky though.
