I got a new tri-pod, a tulip shroud, and a solid shroud, and a .45 wide angle adapter. The solid shroud has not shown up yet. A friend of mine sent me a $50.00 gift certificate and I used all of it. I ended up three dollars over.

I have bought quite a few things on Amazon. I was hoping not to re-buy something I already have. I looked inside the lens yesterday and the glass is all good, but the aperture is completely broken. Doesn't look good, but Nikon service has surprised me before.

Bad news/good news on the lens. The bad news is it looks like $250-350 for repair. The good news is the repair center is walking distance from my office. I have to wait for some incoming invoices to cover the expense, but I think it's worth getting repaired. The lens, which is still under warranty was $750 new.

Good to hear Eric. It being under warranty doesn't reduce the costs of the repair does it as it was dropped? I know with my iPhone warranty most things were covered except if the damage was the obviously the result of being dropped/immersed etc which as it happens seems to be the main way I damage the stupid thing (dropped it last week onto asphalt and it cracked the screen, haven't yet got around to coughing up the money to repair it).

Been a while since I have been on. My work blackberry crapped out on me, so they upgraded me to an iphone. I have played around a little with the on-board camera, which is pretty good for a cell phone camera. My wife bought some monster strawberries last week. Some of you guys have seen these photos on my facebook page.

Neat photos, Eric! It's amazing how much quality the phones have nowdays when compared to the P&S cameras just a few years ago.

And she sure looks like she's having fun with that monster strawberry! Man, I sure miss the fresh strawberry stands down there (always at the edge of the strawberry fields...didn't get any fresher than that)...
