....So my big question is........ besides the photo attached, does anyone have any other?
I can only find One of a Mk-IX with the A*HN marking!!!! How can this be?
I recon it will be imposs to find the Davidson AC, but surely there must be more photos?....

You're lucky there is even ONE picture. There are thousands of aircraft not documented in photos. Interesting patches of paint on the fuselage over the wing or maybe a defect on the picture?

Old age is a terrrrrrrible thing.
I don't see as well as I used to!
I don't hear as well as I used to! My wife will confirm this!
I don't connect seeing with thinking.
I don't ........... mmm, what was my point???????

Point is I have a PR-XIX, and Not a Mk-IX............................ DOH.
So.................... mmm

So mmmmmm.................... I'll do my 1/48th Airfix FR.Mk.XIX,
But it will be the two toned version.
This one shown is a Clave illustration.
Near as I can find is Med Sea Gray top fuselage and wings PRU lower surfaces and lower 2/3 of fuselage.
Kinda wanted to do invasion stripes, some just had lower part under roundel nuthing on wings.

Getting out of the WW2 era though.

Yes triple 8 does if it was a new build purchase.in '54?
But when was the FR.XIX's ceased production as a type.
The others were refurbished, must must have been WWII op AC.
I guess more silly research? Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhgh.
Aye?

Later the same day;

Mk XIX (Mk 19) (types 389 and 390)

The Mk XIX was the last and most successful photographic reconnaissance variant of the Spitfire. It combined features of the Mk XI with the Griffon engine of the Mk XIV. After the first 25 (type 389s) were produced, later aircraft were also fitted with the pressurised cabin of the Mk X and the fuel capacity was increased to 256 gallons, three-and-a-half times that of the original Spitfire This version was the type 390.[39]

The first Mk XIXs entered service in May 1944, and by the end of the war the type had virtually replaced the earlier Mk XI. A total of 225 were built with production ceasing in early 1946, but they were used in front line RAF service until April 1954.

In 1951, Hainan Island (People's Republic of China) was targeted at the behest of US Naval Intelligence for RAF overflights, using Spitfire PR Mk 19s based at Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong.[40] The last operational sortie by a Mk 19 was in 1963 when one was used in battle trials against an English Electric Lightning to determine how best a Lightning should engage piston-engined aircraft. This information was needed in case RAF Lightnings might have to engage P-51 Mustangs in the Indonesian conflict of the time.

And then later;
Oh, so thanks for that Andy....... it did serve then!

We'd have to get the guys to agree to the 1950's Thai markings unless you do the 542 Sq service.

No need, I will do it as it last flew with 542.
I am however trying to determine a couple of things.
1. was it two toned! PRU lower 2/3 of fuselage sides and bottom of wings with Sea Gray top surfaces?
2. upper of fuselage and tops of wings and horiz stabs?
3. did it have invasion stripes under wings and under belly at roundels Only?
4. did it have a letter code behind roundel?

A photo in an article with the caption;Supermarine
"Mk.19 Spitfire PS888 in the service of the RAF before haded over to the RTAF."

Can you see a colour change just about rocker arm cover fairings for Sea Gray top side?

Thanks awfly for your time.

Geo sent me a Photo of triple 8.
No invasion markings as it was delivered 17 June 45., After the Big Show!
No ID code and two tone.
So now I'm cookin for the start!
I don't think it got much wear and tear until the wars ending so Nearly New it will be!
And it looks like the bigger roundel was replaced with a smaller one when it went to the RTAF, above post.

Thanks Geo.......

I want to build a Mustang MkIII as a late version with Malcolm canopy and the rudder extension. I have done a bit of research and I think the KP kit is favourite at the moment but could anyone tell me if the kit has the Malcolm canopy and rudder extension. The artwork seems to show the early birdcage canopy.
