....or DC-3s. The recreation took place just outside of town

It was a DC-4 methinks.

I just noticed that I stood corrected on my 13th anniversary here. Not the best picture; Northern Lights taken with my phone and they were only out for about 30 seconds

That must be an amazing sight!

I have only seen them once, when I was a kid and we had an unusual aurora event that had them faintly appear in Orange County on a cold winter night.

They were not even close to what happens up in your neck of the woods, though.

Holy chit!!

I'm no stranger to driving in the mountains during harsh winter conditions. Blinding snow, snow drifts and black ice.doesn't phase me...but the sight of that smooth as glass road would have me hit the brakes with a loud "nope!"

I wouldn't want to drive it using chains on every tire.

A Zamboni could not have done a better job on that ice.

I once saw (1960) the ice effects on a highway from Colorado Springs to Denver. At a particular curve, many cars had slid off the road on both sides, when a Porsche pulled up near where we were waiting, a guy stepped out, pushed the car onto the ice and tried to steer walking along side. He ended up pushing the doorframe as he and the Porsche moved backwards into the median in veery slow motion. Quite an impression for a boy from the deep south.

Nice shots George!

I also wouldn't go near that ice road!
