Markings are from my old squadron VP-50. March 21 marks the 20th anniversary of a mishap in my squadron, with which 2 of our birds collided killing all on board instantly.

I'm humbled by some of the work I've seen on this forum.

copcheck, very nicely done. If that is Sunnyvale, Calif. I have an aunt, uncle, and two cousins who live there, or used to years ago

Hmm, thought I had put a post here but it didn't show up. Oh well, I wanted to say I like what you've done there. I like the Orion, known as Auroras up here in the great white north. We have a number of those flying coastal patrols still.

Copcheck, that is an outstanding Orion! I am a retired aviator, and am familiar with the San Diego accident. Many friends here at NAVAIR are former Orion drivers. Hats off to you, your model, and your service. By the way, I too am humbled by the quality of work on this site. Cheers!

Mark

Copcheck,
I lost my original reply on VikingBeserker's post, so I'll try this again. You did an outstanding job on the Orion! I am a recently retired aviator and familiar with the San Diego tragedy. Many folks here at NAVAIR are or were P3 drivers... still a strong community. My best to you and congratulations on such a fine model. I too, am humbled by the quality of work on this site. Cheers! -Mark

Mrf17,

Thank you! I used the example before of building this model and comparing it to reading a good book, you just don't want it to end. I have 3 more sets of 1/72 VP-50 and VP-31 decals that I would like to use one day. If you're interested in a set, let me know and I'll mail them free of charge.

My hope is that one day I'll have the skills to build one of these that I would be proud to put in a display case.

Thank you again.

Copcheck,
You are most welcome. I don't think you have to worry about your skills.... You need to put that P-3 in a display case now! I'll holler at you if I ever get a 1/72 Orion on my bench. Right now I've got a P-40 and A6M3 about ready to go. I'll post them when I get 'em done. Cheers! -Mark
