He had a periscope to use. Supposedly it was provided for clearing ship's masts, trees and other flight path obstructions but there's no written account of his ever using it.

Yep, seem to recall reading there was a periscope fitted, viewing out of the bottom of the aircraft. There was a reason for the lack of frontal windows, but I'm blowed if I can remember what it was! Still a tricky arrangement for a visual on landing though!

Could it have had something to do with the quality/type of glass available at the time?
Lack of impact resistance?
In Lindberg's plane the large main fuel tank was moved forward to improve the CofG and lessen his chances of being crushed in case of a crash

Since Wurger OKed non-aircraft models, I've posted one of my tanks, the M41 Walker. This is another, the US M1A1 Abrams MBT. The tank does not fit into WWII or Vietnam but I think that it is probably the finest tank in the world so I had to put one in my collection

Thank you, all. Does not fit my collection but I like it so it's my odd ball model
Loiner, Correct I also have a larger 1/24 which is on my top shelf of the computer desk. Was hoping to put the B-29 there but its too big to fit so????

Here's a DHC C-7 (DHC-4) Caribou transport used in Viet-Nam. This kit was built for a friend who recently passed away. I believe it was from Hobbycraft and is to 1/72 scale.
