Cosimo, I was thinking the exact same thing! Charles, that pic is very good. Should be in Military Modeler or National Geographic! Nice shot!

Hi all: Worked on the nose-block most of today. Cutting and sanding and
putting them in place. Also added the lower front stringers. Now it's a
whole lot of sanding to get the nose-block to shape.

All pic's have been moved to Modeling\Aeronca K Floatplane

Hi Charles! Well you got me really curious about this float arrangement thing and I spent the last three hours researching the Net for info. I looked on several Aeronca sites, including in the UK and all the examples I saw showed two parallel cross braces between the floats. They attach to each float where the braces attach but just inboard of them. I've got a really good photo I took off the Net but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to put it in this post. PS. I'm with Cosimo and Njaco, that's a great photo!

Dougrd. If you take a look at the section of plans I put up, especially the
front view, you'll see the cross braces. I think I'm going with the music
wire, in place of the thread. Maybe a bit of playing with it and I'll come
up with a working arrangement. I've got plenty of time before it sits on
floats.

I think we're getting our terminology crossed and confused. Oh well.

Dougrd..... Tell me what you're thinking about.... I'm open to suggestion.
Like I said, it'll be awhile before it sits on floats.

Dougrd...and the rest of the interested parties.... Laid down two (of the 4)
sides for the pontoons tonight, and sanded on the noseblock in between.
Decided to build the pontoons next, then go to the tail surfaces and then
the wings. I did stop by the hobby shop and bought a 3/16" X 3/4" tapered
(like a training edge of a wing) balsa strip, to use as the cross braces for the
floats. I'll cut it and round the leading edge...... Might have enough left
over for the "N" struts.

Gosh.... I'm glad I thought of that ! (duckin' runnin')

Charles

Hi all: Got one of the pontoons done last night, except for covering, and
hope to do the other tonight. Going to mother-fy them slightly so I'll have
support for the cross braces. Once I get them hooked up, I'll post pic's.

Charles

It's coming along.... got the other pontoon done last night. Going to add
some block balsa to the front to give them a better look. Intend to make the
modifications, tonight, for the cross braces, and maybe get them in place.
After that it will be covering the pontoons, and pictures.
