Oh, GrauGeist. Thank you very much for your prompt response.
Yes, it is I-400 and I've just started making it on CG with as much details as possible.
Please look forward to it.

My general concept for the model is almost like the image attached.
I will make up each part checking technical specs on the docs and photos.
Please enjoy together.

Thank you very much for your friendly posts, Aaron, Gnomey, Lucky13 and Wayne!

I-400 class sumarines left a lot of photographs taken by the US Navy but little original documents of IJN.
So, I was not interested in modelling them at all though I knew there is a good operation manual of I-14
whose basic structure is very similar to I-400 class.

A few weeks ago, I came across a very historical record of I-402, titled "Delivery List of I-402 dated October 5th, 1945" at JACAR site. It begins like this -

Delivery List of I-402 dated October 5th, 1945
============================
1. Completion date: July 24, 1945
2. List of Main Terms
a. Vessel type: Submarine
b. Displacement(standard): 5,284 tons
c. Length/Beam: 122 meters(400 ft)/9.8 meters(32.13 ft)
d. Draft(average): 7.46 meters(24.46 ft)
e. Speed: 18.9 knots(surfaced)
6.8 knots(submerged)
f. Range: 33,000 nautical miles at 12 knots surfaced
g. Power plant: 4 x diesel engines
2 x electric motors
3. Summary of present condition
Classification*******Item********Quantity********Present condition
========*******===*******=====********===========
Hull&Equipment*****ditto************************Fully equipped
*************Heavy oil tank*******31 tanks

For more details, I will make up a translated list in the excel format on the other day.
There are all equipments, fuel, oil, armaments and even foods in details on the list.
Original copy is attached here for your quick reference in pdf style.

.............I have found out no reason not making the I-400 on my CG.

Type96 25mm anti-aircraft gun(triple mount).

As I have made it referring to the general type for IJN battleships, gun sight design seems of old type when I-400 had simpler type. I mustl correct it referring to some photographs.
Correction and modification are not easy job even for CG modelling:cry:

I know this question has been asked but I couldn't find the answer...

What program do you use to make your 3D models? Is that the same program you use to render your images?

Hello...I'm back again! :)

Hi, proton45! How have you been?
I'm glad you are back again and thank you for a good question:)

My 3d cg tool is Shade ver.6 - a Japanese local software.
I only use it for my modelling but, some times, other tools for rendering.
Lightwave and Terragen for example.

Those are most excellent renderings, Shinpachi!

I have used gMax for creating a number of aircraft in CFS3 (third party, not original), though it is limited for anything other than that, and I have a very limited knowledge of my TerraGen program, though I really wished I had more time to work with it :(

I also have the full (pro) edition of Strata Studio Pro along with every addon they ever made, but here agian, I just find my time so limited anymore, that I can't really sit down and create anything worthwhile.

I look foreward to more of your work! :thumbleft:

Thanks again for the compliment, GrauGeist.

I have ever tried the gmax for the MS flight simulator once but failed to master.
I couldn't understand how to convert the original file to the specific style for the game
though the TerraGen does not look so difficult for me. Is it a matter of congeniality?

Strata products seem excellent with the incredible function of changing photo image into 3d model.
I'd like to try though finding time is the first thing for me too.

Please enjoy my work.
Thanks.
