Not sure about the fascination with trains or exactly what train spotting entails but hey, when in Rome.....So here's my contribution. Pic taken today on my way back to work in T.R. Canadian National Railway

I was railfanning last Saturday and caught this infrequent type of train. Fort Irwin is in this area and they use the railroads to transport the heavy eqmt. coming and going to the training facility. They use the USMC depot at Yermo for loading and unloading.

The video doesnt show it, but I think I saw some insignia showing this to be from the 3rd ID.

Note - the wind was really gusting. The slop in the background was a dust storm. At the very end when I pan my camera, you can see the delineation between the dust and the clear air.

I was at the Post Office downtown today and the train station is right next door...and lo-and-behold, UP was had some sort of project going on...and you know that every serious project has to have a "john" onsite, right?

Well, leave it to UP to have thier own official version...

I managed to get some shots up at Glade Springs near the turn around that lead to Saltville. The tracks going to Saltville have been taken up and a walk, bike trail have been put in it's place. This was a container train probably coming out of the Portsmouth Marine Terminal. But the origin is just a guess.

Not a fan of ANY modern diesels OR NS after they cancelled their steam excursions(?), but d*mn!
Keep this up and they're soon off the naughty step and back in the good books!
These paintjobs even make these modern ugly diesels look gooood!
