Good stuff, although I see that Italeri HAVE got something wrong; the upper wing roundels on the R.A.F. version would have changed, in late February 1945, to the Type C, similar to those on the under wing.

Yep..Terry can be right.Especially if 65th Squadron was a part od the 2nd TAF.The "C" type roundels were introduced by the 2nd TAF on 3rd January 1945. By the 15th Jan. 1945 all RAF fighter planes in Europe got the kind of roundels. The difference between the "C" one and the "C1" on undersides was the outer yellow outline of "C1" roundel.

I think you guys should go into the modeling industry and plan out the kits.. :D

Hi Maglar

Not sure if
a, this too late, or
b, any use.

While I was at the RAF Museum Hendon earlier this year, while snapping away, one of the 'wardens' came upto me and said "Would you like to take a picture that no-body seems to know about ?". I'd allready spent quite some time chatting this guy, and he was both very knowl;edgeable but also very enthusiastic about his 'planes he was looking after.

Naturally I said yes please, so he ushers me over to the Stuka, we go over the partition where the public aint allowed, and he says "Get a shot of the pilots clear view panel in the floor that lets him see if the 'bomb' has gone.

Personaly, I never knew there was such a clear view panel on the Stuka (I knew the Dauntless had one).

Attached for you, two shots of the 'window' that no-body seems to know anything about. Having seen the extent that you guys model to, I thought you might find them usefull as once upon a time, along long long time ago, I built the Airfix Ju87 and there certainly wasnt any window underneath !.

Now what I dont know is, was this window on every version of the Stuka or not, so it may not be applicable for your version. The last few pics are the '87 that the window is fitted to.

It is not too late Gary, It is only primed and im waiting for the paint in the mail. I will have to look up which one it is and see if it applicable because I might be able to pull it off. Thank you for the pics! I dont think anyone knew about that, makes perfect sense though. I dont know if I could cut a square then glass it (experience related) but, the Stuka has only the main body and wings attached. I leave off the wheels and bombs and all that until the paint job is done..

Heres the F51 after a coat of alclad primer. I ahve already done my sanding in the pics. Tip: dont put too much in the cup or jar because it dries just as fast as acrylic paint in the airbrush. Im really happy that the guns look part of the plane and my putty / sanding worked. I had to glue them in there and had the normal gap and whatnot. Going in for another coat then the bottom and should atleast get the gloss black on by tonight. Luckily Alclad takes 15 - 30 minutes to dry. ** Would anyone happen to know if the microscale liquid mask could hold up to lacquer? Going off Terrys knowledge that painting over a metalizer ruins the matt because I have to paint the olive drab on and blue tips and I want to mask them and tapes a fidge with me. Figured if I could paint my mask on then just scrape it off after thatd be way easier!

No worries Corey. Its quite a sizeable window by the looks of it, immediately behind the 'filter' (?) housing. Must get some more shots next time I'm up there (Sept).

Ask your guy to take you behind the scenes more often, we can pick up a lot of new information!

My vallejo air colors came so I got the dark green on. Wont have the rest painted until later this week, schools running a tight cord!
