So I tried a little dry brushing on the deck. Never done it before so it is pure practising. I noticed I still have a tendency to overdo it. It now looks like nobody cleaned it for over a year. Will clean up and try again.

need to look at the detailing for the anchorchain and other furniture worked into the deck mould

What do you mean Parcival?

I still have to do the chains and the deck at the bore was grey metal, which I still have to apply.

I get that, thanks.

there are what looks like deck lockers, the anchor chain and such that wont be a timber colour. I like geos idea of actually using a real chain, but the chain would need to be painted before application. ive never attempted that myself, but i think it would look very cool if done properly

Anyway, I still think your deck colouration is fine, at least from this distance

Ah thanks!
My the family also agrees with you that the deck is looking fine, so I guess I will go on that way. :)
I also like Geo's idea, but as this is a1:720 model, I guess it'll be hard to find such a small chain.

About the deck: the ship had a small part at the bow that was iron. Furthermore there are all kinds of little iron details on the deck. Given the tiny size it will be a challenge for me to paint them right. I guess that will take up some time from now.

One question on the hull. I will paint that in a medium dark grey. I think I will dry brush that as well but am wondering if I should do that with a darker colour or a lighter one, given the fact that it is slightly dark already. Any advise on that?
