I hate to see you using that Testors contour putty. I have never had good luck with that. I use red Bondo mixed with tube glue (2 parts Bondo to 1 part glue) I mix a little up in a small airtight jar it has a good long working time and when it dries it is very strong, bonds very well with the plastic, easy to sand and it feathers beautifully. If you do use the Testors try mixing in a little glue, should help. The Bondo is also VERY cheap for such a large tube. Take a look at my "What if..." P-65 - PLENTY of Bondo on that one !!!

What do the rest of you guys use?

Oh well I've had fairly good luck and I prefer it .

Squadron White I have for larger gaps since its thicker than the green. Green if I have it I use for small gaps. Just none available.

Thanks for the feedback will look for Bondo

Yep, it was the 361st FG, from May 1944, based first at Bottisham, near Duxford, then little Walden, Essex, before moving to the Continet in support of the 'Battle of the Bulge', then back to Little Walden.

Ok update from me hotel room....

Gear doors painted. I went off photos from Preddy's aircraft and thats how they were. Me thinks the beck needs to be a bit longer.

Those are the Revell wheels I took from the Spares box (Jan! )

Should I spray the invasion stripes white and hand paint the black? I've heard Model Masters white is tricky to spray. Should I brush paint it all?

White is a pain in the@ss no matter what brand....spraying it will give a nice even coverage, but if you are using gloss enamels it should settle pretty evenly as well....choice is yours mate?

If you're brush painting H, the don't rush it all in one go. Apply the first coat as evenly as possible, and let it dry thoroughly before applying the next. It will NOT go on smooth and even in one coat. I find that a first coat of matt white, followed by one, or two coats of gloss white, makes life easier and gives a better finish. Bear in mind you'll be giving it a matt clear coat eventually, so no problem with the gloss. Don't worry too much if it isn't of even density, as long as it's not 'lumpy', as the stripes were relatively crudely applied as you know, unless done a few months later, in the factory or MU/BAD.
