Hello everybody, about a year ago I completed my replica of a famous Phantom of the Vietnam war, so I thought to build a subject taken from the other side, a Mig-21MF. But with a little poetical licence, this was a 1972 plane while the US one dates back in 1967.
The profile that I will very likely try to replicate is the following:
Many thanks for all your comments.
I did a dry fit placing the tub inside the fuselage, seems good.
For cockpit colour I used "391" Turquoise Green from Mr Hobby, it's an enamel base colour and works well. I would've preferred an acrylic but I didn't found one suitable.
From the following pictures you will see that I decided to put a wall behind the nose cone, it will be painted Turquoise Green and will prevent seeing thru.
I also have a question, landing gear legs, seems to be painted light grey, does anybody have a suggestion on the correct hue?
Many thanks in advance
Alberto
Sorry for the pic quality but couldn't find the better copy of the movie I grabbed the shot from. But it should be fine to get the correct grey tone of the landing legs. The equivalent can be the FS 36320.
It is the same colour. The very light ( almost white ) tone is the light trick because of using the flash and also the matter of scanning. I have seen the grey also with the bluish tinge. So, its appearance depends on the light. When I was getting my training as a naviagator in the fighter regiment all our MiG-21s, it doesn't matter of the type , MF or Bis , had just the grey there.
Hi everybody.
Since last time I went a bit forward with my build.
The seat supplied with the kit was a bit too rough, so I replaced it with a resin piece from True Details while the control stick is a mix of pieces from various origin.
Finally, I assembled all mail components.
Here some pictures.
Foot-note: after gluing the front part of the canopy, I realised that I forgot to add the gun sight glass! I think that now I have a problem!!!
Hello everybody! After more then a month I'm ready to post some picture of my model painted and ready for decals, but the first photo concern a conflict: if the ventral speed break is in the open position, it's impossible to install the central auxiliary tank! Therefore, after spending some time to paint and weather it, I had to glue it in closed position. May be I'm wrong but that means that had to be ejected in any circumstances before landing.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year
