After my long absence a small update. The AKAN paints have arrived so I started painting. I put a base coat of AMT7 over the primer and then added some ligher areas with a 50/50 mix of white and the base colour.
I then added some darker shading and finally blended it all together with a very thin layer of the base colour.

At a local artist supply store I found slow-dry and flow-aid additives. Mixing some in with a water/alcohol solution seems to work very well with the akan paints.
The basic paint job is done, after some more post shading it will be time for decals and weathering. For some reason the colours seem to wash out in the photos and some of the subtleties of paint variation are lost - i must figure out how to make the photos tell the true story...
That's looking great ! Curious as to what you used for the edge of the masking ?? I've heard silly putty works great but that looks too light to be SP ??
