32000 people now evacuated from Colorado Springs as the Waldo fire jumped a canyon,Air Force Academy evacuated. 2400 people evacuated from a fire overlooking Boulder. High heat and winds again today. Crews are maxed out. 87000 acres burned in the high Park fire,over 250 homes burned in that one. 8 or so others burning. Not good...

Somewhat similiar conditions here in Arkansas. Trees are still green but -15in of rain has most grass dry and brown. 4th is coming, fireworks are not banned but officials announced "at your own risk". 102F today, 107F tomorrow, 103F predicted on the 4th. NO rain in the 10 day.
It is hard to overstate the number and degree of these fires.
The AF acadeny football stadium is in the lower left

Man, that's bad. Do you guys get the Aussie syndrome there of 'two natural fires, five delberate'?

Hope yas are all safe anyway...

Fires are actually good for the environment. Keeps brush and other nasties down. But uncontrolled is always bad.

Stay safe everyone!

Hey folks;

The academy was officially closed today and it may be closed tomorrow. Starting yesterday the 306 FTG evacuated all its aircraft out of the area. My company moved our Super Cubs as well. A few of my co-workers have been evacuated and at lest one believes he lost his home.

More to come...

This sure brings back memories of when Northern California was being devestated by wildfilres back in '08...You guys over there in Colorado be careful and stay safe!

We just sent local USFS and CDF units out your way...I did see that our local Trackers, Neptunes and Orions are still at the airport but the Superlift/Dragonflies are gone...hopefully they're on thier way to help!

The Springs home damage estimate between 200 and 300 homes burned to the ground, plus 250 or so in the High Park fire. FBI is in on the investigation but still can't get to the area where it started. They keep saying there is a person of interest. If so it's time for a hanging for the s.o.b.

Torch/Joe did the thunderstorms give some relief yesterday or cause more lightning strikes. this is bringing back horrid memories of our terrible bisquit fire at over 1/2 million acres, we have seen this crap up first hand locally at least 6-7 times, a real lack of being able to do anything but save your skin and your neighbors.................. prayers out for the folk of Colorado.

and yes keep us all updated as the reports are quite warped on the news

No basically sprinkled with more lightning strikes causing small fires here and there....
