DONE: F4U-1A of Lt. Bill Case of VMF-214, Group Build...

Don't know if this will help, but I have the following photos:

- 1st Tour Members, Aces standing in front with baseball bats.
- 2nd tour photo, probably taken at Espiritu Santo prior to deployment.
- Plane # (17)883 engine running, either prior to takeoff, taxi, etc.

Did VMF-214, during their first tour as the Black Sheep, have F4U-1'A's? I know that this was actually VMF-214s 3rd tour, prior to that they were the Swashbucklers.

Let me know if I can help. I may have forgotten something I have.

Scott, sounds like I have all the pics uve described, and yes, VMF-214 Blacksheep did have -1A's on hand during their First Tour, as loss records indicate... Thanks for the assist...

Thanks alot for the words guys.... Tweaked my back some yesterday at work, so no work last night, just the heating pad....
 
Got the main parts glued and filled and painted, to an extent... Minor touch ups required here and there, but the main spraying is done.....

Dry fitting of the wing tips to the main assembly is frightening.... This is gonna be a pain in the ass.....
