This Arado served with 2./SAGr 125 in the Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean during 1943. This is the "costal" version of the Arado 196 designed to defend coastal areas and ports and to interdict and attack shipping. In this coastal role it both took off from and landed on the water as it returned to port. It mounted 2 - 7.92 MG, 2 - 20mm cannon, and most importantly, in its strike role, carried 2 - 110lb(50kg) bombs.
