Here's the finished pictures guys. The guns are bits of copper wire and the cannons are aluminum tube. I still intend to do this in 1/48th scale and still have the two AMTech P-40F's waiting to be chopped up, but it will be a little wile before I start on it. When I do I'll just continue on with this thread.

Nice j0b on that conversion! That has always been one of my favorite "oddball" aircraft mockups/spoofs.

One major problem with the conversion, however - you used the P-40E Allison engine cowls. If you look closely you will notice there are NO intakes on the top of the cowls in the photo. This makes them the Rolls Royce engines/cowls used on the P-40F/L.

If you look at post #1 I wasn't trying to create an exact model of the aircraft in the picture but an improvement with more streamlined nacelles set lower on the wing for better pilot visibility. This model was meant as "practice" to see if I could do it before I went and cut up two 1/48 scale kits so I used very old and cheep Heller kits. I still intend to build a 1/48th scale version - when I get around to it - from two P-40F long tail kits I have waiting on the shelf. The aircraft is obviously a "short tail" but as I'm trying to improve the concept I feel a using "long tail' P-40 fuselage makes it look more feasible.
I still think about starting up on it every once in a while but something else always seems to come up. Maybe I'll make a start on it someday soon as I really enjoyed all the cutting and piecing together that was involved with this build.
