Human loss is certainly tragic but does anyone know the history of that particular aircraft? Was it a combat veteran?

Sigh -

Eric - it has the feel of a stall somewhere during the break to final... based on the "90 degree turn" comment although the sputtering sounds like an engine problem connected to the accident.
