Wow, Oftch that Monogram kit is wonderful. 30yrs!? Is the X-15 the Revell kit?
Thank you all for your comments. No Matt, they came together as one kit. Monogram also brought out the X-15 by itself. I'll try to get mine dusted off and post a photo of it.

Here's the other one. This one was back-dated to 66670 with the origional two rockets, while the one on the NB-52 is 66671 with the single rocket motor. I remember it being less chunky than the Revell so I gave the Revell to my kids. I wish, I now had kept it. Unfortunately I did that with a lot of my earlier models.

I made it too in junior high. I recall that the fuselage split along the seamlines, but for the life of me can't remember what I did with the model now that I no longer have it. I have another unbuilt out in the garage but can't imagine where I would put it upon assembly. I often think about making a SAC version with Skybolt missles under each wing. Now that would be cool.
Here are a couple of Navy jets from the fifties. The Cutlass is from Fujimi and the Panther is from Hasegawa, both are 1/72 scale. There were only a couple of the photo Cutlasses built as the plane had a short srvice life. The Panther depicts a composite of two aircraft, spliced together to "keep 'em flying" over Korea.
